Job Description

This is an entry level position for an Engineering Technician professional who is excited about working with cutting edge engineering equipment, processing field data, and supporting the creation of accurate drawings illustrating motor vehicle incidents.

You will be working closely with our seasoned Professional Engineers, as well as our Associate Engineers, in downloading and documenting evidence from accident scenes and collision damage to vehicles.  Along with geometric documentation, you may also be downloading “black box” data from vehicle computers.  All of this will be done while using the latest in engineering equipment including 3D point cloud scanners, aerial drones and vehicle performance instrumentation.  You will be processing the forensic data collected during fieldwork and preparing drawings that are utilized by our engineers to analyze causation and to share their results in a scientific manner.  In support of these investigation activities, you will also be responsible for maintaining the field equipment, managing the inventory of evidence and helping manage our Charlotte facilities with light IT support.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Field equipment maintenance (scanners, drones, GPS Survey kits, and other equipment) with system updates, partnering with internal teams and external vendor(s) to support repairs and replacement.
  • Provide analysis support through usage of various software packages
  • Install, configure and upgrade equipment software and hardware.
  • Provide technical support or training on systems and equipment.
  • Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules for equipment.
  • Support Asset inventory reconciliation.
  • Evidence inventory management.
  • General office equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with file organization.


Skills and Qualifications

  • B.S in Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or other related technical field (e.g. Computer Science)
  • Approximately 0-2 years of working experience. We will consider more years of experience as long as the candidate understands that the position is an entry-level position within the company’s engineering framework.
  • Positive attitude full of commitment and a burning desire to contribute.
  • An interest in motor vehicles.
  • An interest in 3D Scanners, drones and photography.
  • Available for occasional regional travel.
  • Comfortable working on a team and in a collaborative space.
